Porsche Facility to Install Solar Array

When you think about Porsche cars, you don’t normally think about environmental concerns. Porsche is known for its style, performance and reliability, not for being green. That isn’t to say Porsche vehicles are any more or less fuel efficient than other vehicles, just that Porsche doesn’t conjure up environmentally friendly images the way that, say, Toyota does.

However, Porsche has been paying attention to the environment for quite some time. For example, Porsche constructs its cars with 85% recycled materials, and was a pioneer in installing a waste-management recycling system almost 20 years ago.

Now, Porsche is taking things a step further. Porsche is installing a solar array at one of its logistics facilities located in Ontario, California. The solar array is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 50,000 pounds each year.

There are more and more environmentally friendly choices in Porsche vehicles, as well. Porsche will soon release its Cayenne SUV as a hybrid. The hybrid should reduce fuel consumption by around 25% when compared to the gas-only Cayenne.

Come check out a Porsche today. Not only will you get a sharp vehicle that performs, you’ll be supporting an environmentally friendly company as well.

Five Things to Know about the Porsche Cayenne

When you think of Porsche, your first thought is probably a two-seater sports car with ridiculous performance. But in 2003, this luxury automaker expanded its horizons with the Cayenne SUV. Here are five facts about the Porsche Cayenne that you probably didn’t know.

1. You can probably afford a base-level Cayenne. The prices for the Porsche Cayenne ranges from the low $40,000 range to the six-figure range (above $100,000).

2. The Porsche Cayenne is as versatile as it is affordable. You can take it off-roading in some instances. What other luxury SUV can say that?

3. The Cayenne is available in four different versions and each version has an engine specifically created for it. The engines range from a 3.6-liter V6 with 290 horsepower to the Cayenne Turbo S which has a turbocharged V8 engine with 520 horsepower.

4. All Cayenne models come standard with an all-wheel-drive system.

5. Porsche and VW worked on the Cayenne together. The manufacturers did not produce a 2007 model, but it returned in 2008 with a refreshed and new look.

This club, according to it’s website, “celebrates the finer things in life” and “desires the comfort of good friends and good conversation, and we praise to a fault the world’s finest automobile.” This is the largest Porsche club in the United States, and they have 139 regions in North America.

Audi Joins Carfax Program

The next time you research your Audi model of choice, you may notice a new feature. The luxury automaker recently became part of the Carfax Service Link program which helps car shoppers see the service information reported to the website. The information is used as free advertising on the vehicle history reports section of Carfax. The best thing is that your local Audi dealership can participate in the Carfax Service Link program for free.

Audi dealers will undoubtedly want to participate in the Carfax Service Link program because when they do, their contact information is displayed next to each service record. This helps dealers keep vehicles in their service cycle. Currently, about 6,000 dealers of various brands participate in the program. And since millions of car buyers rely on the Carfax website for their research, participating in the program gives dealers more exposure to potential customers.

Vito DiMarco, a sales manager at a New Jersey Audi dealership, said the Carfax program has a “tremendous impact on revenue” from the dealership’s service bays. He states that many of his first-time customers came to his facility simply because they saw it advertised on the Carfax Vehicle History report they received online. Joining the program, he said, “was one of the best decisions we made to help expand our customer base and make more money on the service side.”
