DVD Review of Automobiles: The Porsche 911

If there’s one thing the History channel excels in, it is making documentaries. As they have done with so many different vehicles and so many different car companies, the History Channel has produced a documentary on the Porsche 911. If you’re a fan of the Porsche 911, you should definitely make the effort to see this DVD.

The premise of Automobiles: The Porsche 911 is that, even if the Porsche 911 had only lasted a few years, it would be a remarkable car. This vehicle traces its origins as far back as the Volkswagen Beetle, which was originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche before he left VW to start his own automotive company. The first Porsche 911 was designed by Ferry Porsche, the son of Ferdinand. The concept Ferry worked with was a sports car that had room enough for his golf clubs.

The video tracks the various designers who have had their hands in the Porsche development over the years. You can even see a parade of older Porsche 911s that will show you how this vehicle has evolved.

Some of the extras include some clips from 1970s LeMans racing featuring the Porsche 911, as well as the African Rally. There is even a segment about James Dean. If you’re interested in Porsche history, this is a video you must see.

If this DVD inspires you, make sure to get on over to your local Porsche dealer right away and check out what Porsche is doing today.

On top of all of that, Porsche Service guarantees the use of Porsche Genuine Parts in order to make sure that your Porsche stays running in optimal conditions. Porsche provides you with a two year warranty on all their spare parts.

In fact, the only reason why you might consider not using Porsche Genuine Parts is if you don’t actually own a Porsche at all.

Porsche Noises

While your Porsche is one of the most amazing vehicles on the road when it comes to performance and style, the fact of the matter is that you might need repairs from time to time. Even the best cars sometimes feel the effects of the road. One of the telltale signs that there is a problem with your Porsche is that it’s making a noise you’re not familiar with.

You might, for example, hear a startling, sharp sound. This is usually a backfire. Often, a backfire is caused by a problem with a rich air and fuel mixture. This could come from a faulty signal from the coolant temperature sensor, or even oxygen sensors. It can also indicate problems with the catalytic converter or even a problem with a clogged monolithic converter.

Sometimes, you might experience a clunk or a clank. This can indicate that there is a problem with a heavy component of some sort. Gears are a likely culprit. For example, this is the sound you might hear when a bad rear axle pinion is going bad. It could be that there is a problem with your suspension, strut mounts or shocks.

If your Porsche is making a noise you don’t recognize, make sure and contact your local Porsche dealer today to get it taken care of.

Porsche Club Lends a Hand

Owning a Porsche means that you’re a person who’s committed to quality, and to Porsche performance. It means you want the best around when it comes to style. Owning a Porsche, however, also often means giving back to the community in which you live. And the Porsche Club of America’s Chicago Region is proving just that with a special Porsche Exhibition Show.

This show, which will be held on May 30 in Bolingbrook, Illinois, is designed to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. While admission to the Exhibition is free, for a $10 donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation visitors can cas a vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The Chicago Region of the PCA has more than 3,000 members, and holds many events throughout the year. The club is dedicated to helping restore and maintain the best performace vehicles on the planet: the Porsche.

2009 Porsche Cayman S Offers Dual Clutch Gearbox

If you’re a fan of Porsche at all, then you’ve probably heard all about the dual clutch automated manual gearbox offered by Porsche. You probably also know that the gearbox is available in the 2009 Porsche Cayman, as well as the 2009 Porsche Cayman S.

The PDK, which is Porsche’s abbreviation for the German name of the gearbox, offers the convenience of an automatic transmission combined with the drivetrain response and the fuel efficiency of a manual transmission. The unit is easy to use, responsive, and even helps to boost the performance of the 2009 Cayman S.

The seven-speed PDK Cayman S is quicker than the automatic transmission version. This is due to the fact that the dual clutch doesn’t have to take time to upshift, and there is therefore no interruption in the delivery of torque.

You can set the Dual Clutch Gearbox to either manual or automatic mode. You can use the lever on the center console to shift gears, or you can use the buttons included on the spokes of the steering wheel.

If you’re interested in trying out this revolutionary new transmission, make sure to get on over to your local Porsche dealer right away. You’ll be amazed at how smooth this car can be.

Understanding Vehicle Service Agreements

One of the most common new trends when it comes to buying a car is the purchase of a vehicle service agreement. Vehicle service agreements are especially popular on high end vehicles, such as Porsche vehicles. Porsche owners know that, while the Porsche workmanship is second to none, things can go wrong. When they do, you’re much better off with a service agreement already in place.

Vehicle service agreements may vary from one dealer or from one manufacturer to another. In most cases, a service agreement will supplement a vehicle’s existing warranty. In many cases, it extends that warranty beyond the manufacturer’s time period.

Often, these agreements will add to the manufacturer’s warranty, as well. For example, they may include roadside assistance. They may also help to cover some of the routine maintenance type costs on your vehicle.

If you’re buying a new vehicle, you should ask your dealer about a vehicle service agreement so that you know what all of your options are. This is also true for a used vehicle; in fact, it’s probably even more useful for you to consider a service agreement on a used vehicle than it is for a new one. Here again, your dealership should be able to provide you with information about your options.

Porsche 911 Featured in Twilight Novels

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past two or three years, you’ve probably heard of the movie Twilight. The movie is based on the popular Twilight Saga of novels, written by Stephenie Meyer. The novels tell the story of the Cullens, a family of vampires and their adventures and interactions with mortals.

One of the most interesting things about these novels is the car driven by Alice Cullen, one of the vampires in the movie. Alice drives a Porsche 911 Turbo, one of the most powerful and iconic vehicles on the road. The Porsche 911 gives the character the opportunity to really show off the capabilities of the Porsche 911, as she pilots it the way only someone with preternatural skill and reflexes could.

The fact that the Porsche 911 appears in these novels is no mistake. This vehicle stands for the speed, agility and sleekness that Meyer attempts to characterize her vampires with. Indeed, this is a near-perfect choice of vehicle for the Twilight books.
