Will the Porsche Cayenne Come to the States?

Porsche has plans to bring the Porsche Cayenne hybrid to the United States next year, but the German automaker also has a diesel version of the crossover that may or may not make it to this market.

porsche

Officials at Porsche said they would bring the diesel version of the crossover to the United States if they found at least 20 percent of Cayenne buyers were interested in it. That would be enough buyers to justify the cost of meeting America’s pollution standards, according to Michael Leiters, the project manager for this particular Porsche model. The diesel-powered Porsche Cayenne gets 240 horsepower, reaches speeds of more than 130 miles per hour and gets at least 30 miles to the gallon on the highway in European testing. That’s nearly 30 percent better than the V6 gas-powered version!

Porsche may have a long road ahead of them trying to convince Americans that diesel engines are an eco-friendly alternative to hybrids. Many American car buyers are still under the notion that diesel engines are gas guzzlers and they are not as clean as traditional engines and much dirtier than the hybrid engines. But diesel engines have come a long way since those days and the Porsche Cayenne is proof of that.

If you want the diesel-powered Cayenne to come to the United States market, be sure to visit your Willow Grove, PA Porsche dealer and let them know. You could be part of the 20 percent that makes it happen!

The Porsche Panamera is a family car with a modern interior. It features the Porsche PDK, which is the double clutch transmission Porsche enthusiasts have been raving about. This makes shifting seamless, causing no power loss or traction when shifting.

It is even expected that Porsche will eventually offer the Panamera as a hybrid. Today’s Panamera is available with a 4.8 liter V8 engine, in a rear-wheel drive, four wheel drive and a turbo model.

This vehicle will go on sale at Porsche dealers in October.

Remembering the Porsche 959

If you’re a Porsche enthusiast, you probably know the Porsche 959. The 959 was the most advanced sports car ever built by Porsche at the time. It featured a 2.8 liter flat six cylinder twin turbo engine paired with a six speed manual. It had all wheel drive, antilock brakes and a double wishbone suspension.

The height of the car could be adjusted from inside the cockpit, allowing the driver to lower the height of the vehicle based on whether they were driving on the highway or on choppy pavement.

There are many curious stories about the Porsche 959 development. The chief engineer delayed the release because they wanted to get it just right, for example. It was also built to be sold legally and driven on public roads.

The Porsche 959 could do go from zero to 60 in 3.6 seconds. It had a top speed of 197 miles per hour. It origially sold for around $225,000, but today a used 959 in decent shape will go for around $375,000 or more.

Saving On Summer Trips In Your Audi

Just because you want to travel in your Audi vehicle this summer doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money. The fact of the matter is there are specific things you can do for your trips to maximize yoru savings while minimizing your hassle.

If you’re taking a longer trip, one of the best things you can do is to save gas. There are specific ways you can do this. First of all, keep your tires inflated to the manufacturer’s recommendation. This can increase your gas mileage by as much as 8% or more. In addition, you should keep your vehicle close to the speed limit as possible, as the faster you go the more gas you use. Using cruise control to keep a steady speed is wise, as well.

You can save in other ways, too. Plan ahead, and pack some healthy snacks and drinks in the car. Try to schedule rest stop breaks ahead.

Finally, you might consider taking “daycations” instead of longer trips. Find destinations close to home, whether it is to a local berry farm to pick berries or even if its just a day at the zoo.
